Colca tour - Conventional

This is a two day excursion to the deepest canyon in earth. It’s mainly a bus excursion with stops in photo spots and main attractions within the canyon. The shortest tour available.

Route to colca

A private bus will pick the group from Casa de Avila at 8.15 am. Following the road to Chivay, the main city in the canyon, we will cross Aguada Blanca Reserved Natural Park . The bus stops in the road to see Vicuñas -a species in danger of extinction and producers of the finest textile fiber in the world – Alpacas, flamengos and several species. The view of delicate eco system close to the gigant andean mountains is unforgetable. Patahuasi village at 4,800 m. will be the highest point to cross by. Lunch in Chivay and a visit to La Calera hotspring pools finishes our afternoon. Dinner will be served in a restaurant with local dances show. You can participate too.

On the second day, early morning after breakfast (6am) we will checkout and leave for a full day excursion by the left shore of the canyon. The bus will cross several towns on its way to Cruz del Condor, a place in the throat of the canyon, where we will enjoy the unique spectacle of Andean Condors flying. After enjoying these amazing birds in their gorgeous territory, we start our way back. Some photo spots are included before arriving to Chivay, taking lunch and then starting our trip back to Arequipa, where we will be at 5pm the most. Price: $ 35.oo

Colca trek

Explore the deepest canyon in the world in an exhilarating adventure that challenges your resistance, and puts you in contact with the wonders of nature and the ancient tribe of Collaguas. Walk through the Andean Condor territory and enjoy the hot spring waters in this remarkable natural setting

Beginning way down

We leave Arequipa at 6.30am and arrive to Cabanaconde, a city close to the edge of the canyon, at 1pm. After lunch, we begin our trek down into the canyon, a three hours walking downhill will take us the Colca river at the bottom of the canyon and arrive to a local village, where we stay for the night.

Day 2: After breakfast, we continue along the right side of the canyon, passing through the picturesque villages of Coshñirgua and Malata, before descending to the lowest point of the canyon, the Oasis. A relaxing afternoon by the pool and rest in the bamboo bungalows finishes the day.

Around 3am, we begin the climb up the canyon, by torch and starlight (it is too hot to climb by day).  At the arrival to Cabanaconde we take breakfast. A public bus will take the grou to Cruz del Condor where we will enjoy the flight of the Andean Condor. Our last part is a bus trip back to Arequipa crossing through local villages

This is a group tour, with at least 4 guests per group. Price per person US$ 50.  Includes accomodation, food in the canyon, transportation and guidance. Not included entrances to attractions and some meals in Chivay and Cabanaconde. 

Colca Mix Tour or Trek

This is a great option that mixes two adventures. A great view of the echosystem created by the canyon.

The first day is the same as the first day of the conventional. On the second day, after visiting Cruz del Condor, the group will continue to Cabanaconde, where after having some food, we will face our way down to the canyon.

A hotspring bath and some rest for the rest of the afternoon. Some will prefer to walk by the canyon. 

In our third day, our way back will start early at 5 am in the morning. From Cabanaconde we will take a public bus to come back to Arequipa and arrive before 5 pm.

This tour is US$ 68.00 person. Includes a mixt private-public transportation, accomodation, guidance and food in the canyon. Not included: entrance ticket to the canyon, meals in Chivay, drinks and snacks. This is a small group tour.
